Jose Rodriguez was born in East Bernard, Texas. He's had a love of art since his childhood days and has been at it ever since.
His work has been featured in group shows to include the Charles H. Taylor Arts Center, Hampton, VA.,Sulfolk Museum for the Arts, Sulfolk, VA. and Old Dominion University, Norfolk, VA., Villages Art Around the Square, Villages, Florida
His work is a permanent collection in private homes and public to include the Hampton Arts Commission, Hampton, VA., the Arts and Letters Department at Old Dominion University, the Osceola County Commission building, Kissimmee,Florida and at the Growth Management Bureau Buliding, Ocala, Florida
While in the Service (US Army) he also painted murals which are featured in the halls of numerous military bases and continues to paint murals throughout Central Florida.
Jose is a recipient of numerous awards and honors from honorable mention to first place for his artwork. He also won a Logo Design contest for the Port Folio Environmental Awards in Norfolk, VA., was awarded the Ralph and Charlotte Margolius Art Scholarship and was on the Dean's List in the College of Arts and Letters at Old Dominion University. Jose was awarded the People's Choice Award (1st Place) at the Villages Art Around the Square Dec 7, 2003, Second Place at the Villages Art Around the Square March. 14, 2004, Grand Prize winner at the Marion County Growth Management Bureau Art Contest April 17, 2007, Award of Merit at the Gainesville Fine Arts Association Oak Hall Art Festival May 5th, 2007
EDUCATION
Jose took art classes during his high school years and since then has formal art education from Old Dominion University, Sulfolk, VA. Central Florida Community College, University of Florida and has a Degree from Central Texas College, Killeen, TX. He is also a graduate from the North Light Art School, Offered by the North Light Art Books and the Artists Magazine and has taken various art seminars/workshops throughout the United States and while stationed overseas.
AS AN INSTRUCTOR
Jose has taught art classes for the Military Community Arts & Crafts Center while stationed overseas, Community Center for the Villages, Summerfield Fl., Marion Landing Community Center (SR 200), Ocala Fl, All About Art Gallery, Belleview Fl. and for the Community Technical and Adult Education Center, Ocala Fl.

Currently Jose is a graphic arts teacher at The Villages High School in The Villages, FL and he and his wife Terry own and operate TJ Signs & Screen Printing.

Designed and donated the logo for 24hrs In The Life of Ocala, a project of CFCC-Brick City Center for the Arts, Volunteered in the design and painting of the Integrity Mural (6'x12'), a project of the Webber Center of CFCC, Ocala Fl.. Painted Mural for All About Art Gallery, Belleview, Fl., Donated a painting to the Villages Arts Assoc. as an auction item for a college scholarship fundraiser. The Villages, Fl., Art donation to the Fine Arts For Ocala for benefit auction.
