En plein air is a French expression which means "in the open air", and is particularly
used to describe the act of painting in the outside environment rather than indoors (such as in a studio).

Here I am with my little
cart going to paint in my favorite location.
"My own back yard"
I always start by drawing my subject with a paint brush using only a brown color mix

I am getting real close to another finished
plein air painting. I get a lot of enjoyment painting outdoors.

Notice the change in light by the time I got to this phase in my painting.
When painting outdoors one needs to paint very quickly in order not to loose the lighting.
